Woman 'left kids in car to play pokies'

Posted November 28, 2008 13:26:00

A woman has been charged with child neglect offences after her children were found in a car parked outside a club in Sydney's west while she was allegedly playing poker machines.

A member of the public contacted police last night after finding three children - aged six months, two and four - in the unlocked car on Fennel Street at Parramatta.

After about 15 minutes, the 37-year-old Swedish woman returned to the car and was arrested.

Police allege the children had been left in the car for two hours while the mother played pokies at another club on O'Connell Street.

She has been charged with six child neglect offences and granted strict conditional bail.

The woman is expected to face court next week.

The children have been placed in the care of the Department of Community Services (DOCS).
