Electorate boundary change excites mayor

Posted November 29, 2008 08:50:00

The Mayor of Tasmania's West Coast Council has welcomed news the region is to be shifted into the Braddon electorate.

The Electoral Commission has made changes to several electorates, including taking the eastern part of the Latrobe municipality from Braddon and putting it in Lyons.

To balance the change, west coast has been shifted from Lyons to Braddon.

The West Coast Mayor Darryl Gerrity is excited by the change.

"We are a part of Braddon, with our economic and our social and our community of interests," Councillor Gerrity said.

"And I think the board has done a marvellous job, it was a very good process, I was glad to be part of it. But I think in the end a sound, commonsense decision was made," he said.
