Independent grain handler, Clear, will today begin online trading of malt and feed barley.

Clear says growers and brokers can nominate to sell their barley online at any bulk handler delivery site.

The handler's managing director, Grant Thomas, says there is growing demand from growers who are looking for alternate markets to help capitalise on prices.

The online system, which has 30 registered brokers from across Australia, already trades in wheat and plans to trade in canola as well.

Australian barley production is predicted to reach 6.3 million tonnes this harvest.
