Munce hit with 30-month Hong Kong ban

Posted December 1, 2008 19:09:00

Jockey Chris Munce has received another setback in his bid to resume his career, with an additional suspension imposed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Munce appeared at a hearing in Sydney today where he was found guilty of further offences arising from the "tips for bets" scandal which saw him jailed for 20 months.

He was slapped with a 30-month backdated ban, meaning he will be disqualified until September next year.

He will face a Racing New Wales Committee on Wednesday to "show cause" why the disqualification should not be enforced in Australia.

Munce had been granted a local licence pending the Hong Kong Jockey Club hearing, but he has now been stood down from riding trackwork.
