Australians return from Mumbai violence

Posted December 2, 2008 08:03:00

A flight carrying more Australians who were caught up in terrorist violence in Mumbai landed in Sydney last night.

A number of survivors were greeted and hugged by their families at the airport.

Josh Cassidy was staying in a hostel opposite the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where people were trapped in their rooms by gunmen.

He says he was drinking in the area when the violence broke out.

"Once it all kind of blew over I was pretty keen to stay there and keep travelling," he said.

"A lot of people deal with it differently. I was meant to be there for another two months, but the family was keen on me coming home, and at the end of the day it's probably the best thing to do."
