Investigations will continue today into an industrial accident that killed a 25-year-old man in Brisbane's south.

He was standing on scaffolding at the Buranda worksite of the Eastern Busway project yesterday when a concrete beam fell on him at about 11:30am AEST.

The man's legs were severed when a concrete beam fell on a cherry picker.

He was rushed into surgery at the nearby Princess Alexandra Hospital but died later.

Two other men suffered minor injuries.

A spokeswoman for Workplace Health and Safety said yesterday a notice has been issued prohibiting further work on the site until a structural engineer can declare it safe.

Queensland Transport is not commenting but says the project's previous safety record had been excellent.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
