The University of Tasmania has announced a 10-year capital investment plan for the state's three campuses worth $300 million.

Most of the capital projects are expected to begin in the next 12 to 18 months, with many completed within five years.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Rich, says several projects are awaiting approval from the University Council.

"The money has to be accumulated from our income over the next ten years," Prof. Rich said.

"That means around $30 million a year.

"We're hoping that we can by various means invest more quickly than that, go ahead, achieve investment in a shorter period," he said.
