Wangaratta water supply set to double

The water supply to Wangaratta will more than double in the new year.

The installation of tanks, new water mains, a pressure-boosting station and treatment facility will finish this month and will begin operating soon after.

Lucas Krutop from North East Water says the $4.2 million project will secure the city's water supply, especially during drought.

"At the moment we've got enough for a hot day to supply the town and these two tanks will actually increase that from 15 to 35 megalitres so that we can further secure the supply of water in Wangaratta," he said.
