The Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) has charged Independent MP Shelley Archer with corruption over her dealings with the lobbyist Brian Burke.

The CCC will allege Ms Archer used her position to obtain a copy of a confidential letter on the proposed relocation of the Broome Airport.

It is alleged she then passed the letter on to Mr Burke, who was acting on behalf of the airport.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years in jail.

Ms Archer is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on December 12.
