Blasting company told to clean up Karratha waste

Posted December 2, 2008 12:21:00

The abrasive blasting company Total Corrosion Control has been ordered to clean up waste from its Karratha base.

The Department of Environment and Conservation says the company has been found to discharge waste into the environment.

The company will have to clean up waste after each operation and it cannot do anything that will cause spray or dust to escape its boundaries.

The department was forced to act after receiving complaints dating back to 2004 and has issued infringement notices on a number of occasions.

The notice takes effect from next month.
