The Queensland Police Commissioner says staff numbers have been boosted to deal with an expected influx of calls about the disappearance of Sunshine Coast teenager Daniel Morcombe.

The reward for new information has been increased to a record $1 million after a group of investors, developers and business leaders donated $750,000.

This Sunday marks five years since the 13-year-old was last seen waiting for a bus at Woombye.

Commissioner Bob Atkinson says investigators are ready to follow-up on any new information.

"We have extra officers on at the Crime Stoppers unit and we have detectives rostered as well to follow up on any lead that warrants and justifies an immediate response," he said.

"In the unlikely event that the Crime Stoppers number is overloaded, just please keep trying, you will get through."
