Grieving relatives of the five New Zealanders killed in last week's Air New Zealand plane crash off the coast of France have visited the scene.

Divers recovered a third body from the wreckage on Monday.

Family members dropped flowers into the water as divers nearby continued to search for bodies.

Bill Marsh's son Noel, an Air New Zealand engineer, was on the doomed flight.

"Our main aim, our main goal is to bring Noel home," he said.

French authorities have promised to continue searching until all seven bodies are recovered.

Unfortunately for the investigators and the families, the cockpit voice recorder is badly damaged.

It is being sent to its manufacturer in the United States, in the hope that some of the recording can be saved.
