Arson charge after house fire

A man from New Norfolk has been charged with arson after a house fire in Tasmania's north.

The charge relates to a fire which started in the kitchen of a George Town home last night.

A woman escaped the burning building but was not injured.

The 27-year-old man has been granted bail and will appear in court at a later date.
