NBL to throw financial lifeline to Spirit

Posted December 2, 2008 22:17:00

Negotiations are continuing over the future of the basketball team the Sydney Spirit.

Spirit owner Greg Evans has been issued a default notice and faces the loss of the team's licence after he told the NBL he was putting the team into administration.

The players today spoke individually to NBL representatives about the minimum salary they will accept in order to keep playing.

The board is expected to come back to the team with a financial rescue package tomorrow.
