Australian found not guilty of drug trafficking in India

Posted December 3, 2008 07:00:00

An Australian woman charged with drug trafficking has been found not guilty by an Indian court.

Melbourne woman Kelly Trueman was arrested in March 2006 and charged with exporting 5.7 kilograms of hashish.

She had been held on remand in a Mumbai jail for the past two years and eight months.

She has now been released into the custody of her family.

Her father Michael Trueman says he is elated by the decision.

Mr Trueman says the family is looking forward to her coming home.
