Bulls looking for one-day momentum

Posted December 3, 2008 09:06:00

Queensland will be aiming to bounce back from its Sheffield Shield loss to South Australia when the sides meet in today's one-day match at the Gabba.

The Bulls won their last 50-over game against New South Wales in Sydney.

Captain Chris Simpson says the side is keen to build some momentum in the one-day competition.

"We put up a pretty good performance with only 170 runs on the board down in Sydney, so we've got a pretty good feeling amongst the side," he said.

"Definitely we are going to be out to make amends for this four-day loss we've had up here at our Gabba."

The Bulls will welcome back all-rounder Shane Watson for his first domestic one-day appearance this season.

He replaces Ashley Noffke, who suffered back spasms in the Shield match.

Watson scored 100 runs and took eight wickets after being dropped from the Australian Test side.

Dan Cullen, who did not play in the Shield encounter, could be called up by the Redbacks.

Coach Mark Sorell confirmed the off spinner is in the mix.

"I'm pretty sure he's a strong chance of playing, we haven't actually finalised our 12 as yet but Daniel's in that 12," he said.
