Munce cleared to ride again

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Chris Munce has been cleared to resume riding in Australia.

Earlier this week the Hong Kong Jockey Club imposed a further nine-month suspension on Munce for his part in a tips for bets scandal.

Racing New South Wales says the 20-month jail sentence served by Munce was punishment enough.

Munce says it is a relief to be finally cleared to return to the track.

"Most guys are fortunate enough that they can walk straight out and get on with life as normal, whereas I still have to unfortunately go through this process with Hong Kong which dragged out longer than what we'd expected," he said.

"But today certainly puts an end to it.

"I'm just thankful for that and I'm just looking forward to getting on with my career, getting back to the top and riding many more winners."
