A car wreck will be towed up and down Darwin's busy nightclub strip, Mitchell Street, this festive season as part of the Northern Territory Government's anti-drink driving campaign.

The Australian Hotels Association said its members will also provide free soft drinks to designated drivers during the Government's Sober Bob campaign.

The Association's Amy Williamson said the campaign is important given this year's road toll.

"I think it's all about the message of drink or drive don't do both so providing free soft drinks to the Sober Bob for the evening goes a long way to carrying out that message", she said.

Paramedic Michael McKay says he's sick of cutting bodies free of cars smashed in road accidents due to drink driving.

Mr McKay says road accidents can have a lifelong impact on the people involved

"Basically there's a large number of them, who basically don't have a normal life after one of these events.

"And even if they get out with no injuries they have to live with the fact that they were in the vehicle with a friend or a loved one who's died."
