The Bulldogs say former Kangaroos lock Reni Maitua will not be given another chance at the club even if he has counselling.

Maitua was sacked after missing a training session.

He has a long history of indiscretions at the club including a similar incident last year and a drink-driving conviction.

Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg says he does not know if Maitua will play football again.

"Look that's something that's out of our control now and that will be something that David Gallop and the NRL can consider," he said.

"But for us, what we're charged with is getting our house in order, which is getting our club to the level we need it to be and that's a professional football team.

"That stands for a range of different things and as I've said a number of times it takes more that catching and kicking and passing to be a Bulldogs footballer."
