Posted December 4, 2008 08:49:00

Bill Hill has been elected Mayor of the Benalla Rural City Council.

Councillor Hill was the mayor of the Delatite Shire for three years and has been a Benalla councillor for seven years.

Cr Hill says he put his hand up for the top job after being asked to by his fellow councillors.

He says his first task is to work with the councillors to plan for the next four years.

"My first priority will be to sit down and talk will all of the councillors individually and get an understanding of what they hope to achieve over the next four years and we will start working as a group to deliver the outcomes that our ratepayers expect of us," he said.
