Fatal plane crash cause remains unknown

Posted December 4, 2008 10:13:00

Investigators have been unable to determine the cause of a fatal plane crash east of Collarenebri, in western New South Wales, two years ago.

The crop duster crashed and burst into flames on a farming property on December 9, 2006, killing the Wee Waa-based pilot.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau says it found no evidence the plane hit trees or powerlines, and it had plenty of fuel on board.

The report found the pilot may have experienced spatial disorientation and lost control of the plane. However, it says the cause of the crash cannot be conclusively determined.
