The Hawthorn Football Club have arrived in Darwin to a hero's welcome.

The Hawks, the 2008 AFL premiers, are touring the Top End for the first time.

The trip is aimed at connecting to Aboriginal culture and helping inspire the next batch of future players.

Over a dozen Hawks are in the Territory including Coleman Medallist Lance Franklin and home-town hero Cyril "Junior Boy" Rioli, whose quiet time with family didn't last long.

The players head to the Tiwi Islands tomorrow where Rioli will continue to educate his team-mates about the Territory.
