Tas police to consider Qld stun gun findings

Tasmanian police will consider a Queensland report that has found taser guns can contribute to deaths.
The death of a Queensland man earlier this year prompted the review by the Crime and Misconduct Commission, and the Queensland Police Service.
Queensland's roll-out of the guns has now been put on hold until recommendations from the report are implemented.
Tasmania Police's Operational Skills Unit is investigating wider deployment of stun guns in the state.
The Acting Deputy Commissioner, Scott Tilyard, says any research from other jurisdictions will be factored into the final decision.
Meanwhile, the Greens have renewed their calls for an independent investigation into the use of taser guns in Tasmania.
The Greens' Police spokesman, Tim Morris, says there needs to be an investigation into taser training procedures.
"And also we'd now have to look at whether or not the apparent fact that tasers can be used almost like an automatic as opposed to a single shot [weapon], whether the actual usage of tasers needs to be limited to to a certain number of shots, as such, in one application," said Mr Morris.
