Federal Govt appoints ambassador to the Vatican

The Federal Government has appointed a stand-alone ambassador to the Vatican. In January, former deputy prime minister Tim Fischer will become one of only 70 ambassadors who represent their nations exclusively to the Roman Catholic Church.
