Australian musicians preserve Japanese culture

Post-war Japan has built one of the world's most dynamic economies, but in the process some of its most ancient traditions have struggled to remain relevant. But thanks to a small but dedicated group of Australian musicians, at least one Japanese cultural gem is prospering. One of the world's leading players and teachers of the shakuhachi, an oriental bamboo flute, lives in Sydney, and he is on a quest to ensure the survival of this historic instrument.
