The Brolga project

Rural drift is plague on the populations of regional and rural centres.

It drains them of young, energetic talent, pushes up the age of the remaining population, depletes the skills base and limits the economic options and opportunities in the bush.

With that in mind, a new scheme with the backing of major universities, is offering exposure for city based university students to life and work in the country.

The students get invaluable work experience, often unavailable in urban areas, and country businesses taking them on get an injection of talent, and enthusiam after the shock of shifting beyond the urban fringe settles a little.

It's called the Brolga project and Richard Cowley is the instigator.
