The Stateline Queensland team is John Taylor, Kathy McLeish and Teena Girdis.
John Taylor, Presenter
John Taylor began work with the ABC in Queensland in 1996. He is an experienced radio and television journalist with an intimate knowledge of Queensland. John has worked for the ABC in Brisbane, Longreach, Cairns, and the Gold Coast, and has also been based in Sydney and Darwin. He was the ABC's North Australia correspondent, and returned to Australia late last year after four years in Beijing as the ABC's China Correspondent. John has covered all manner of stories including state and national politics, elections, World Trade Organisation talks, and droughts, fires, floods, the SARS outbreak in China in 2003, the 2004 Asian tsunami, and the earthquake in Pakistan in 2005.
Kathy McLeish, Reporter
Kathy McLeish knows Queensland well. She's been with Stateline since 2000 and in that time has covered a wide range of issues across the state. While with the program she's been commended by her peers and community groups for her investigative, business and rural reports. She also won the Earle Duus award for outstanding coverage of mental health issues. Kathy is a highly experienced producer of television current affairs. She has worked as a field producer for the ABC's Australian Story. She has also been a reporter for ABC television news and the 7.30 Report.
Teena Girdis, Executive Producer
Teena Girdis has more than 20 years experience in television news and current affairs. She joined the ABC in 1987 as a cadet reporter and was awarded for her work as a junior reporter. She was a long serving producer of the nightly 7 pm television news bulletin before moving to Stateline as Executive Producer. Teena has also produced election night coverage for ABC television and the national coverage of the Constitutional Convention in Canberra. Under her stewardship Stateline continues to deliver the only local television current affairs program for Queensland. Many of the show's reporters have been awarded by their colleagues and community groups for their contribution to robust public discussion about the events and people who help shape the lives of Queenslanders.
