Stateline Victoria

The Stateline Victoria team is Kathy Bowlen, Matthew Stanley, Josephine Cafagna and Cheryl Hall.

Kathy BowlenKathy Bowlen, Presenter

Kathy Bowlen has been presenting, and reporting on, Stateline for 8 years. Kathy has been with the ABC for 17 years, covering local, national and international affairs. Kathy has worked as a senior news journalist and spent several years as a reporter with The 7.30 Report. Kathy also presented the National Breakfast Television News for 18 months and the weekly current affairs show "Asia Focus". She has produced two half-hour international documentaries, and voiced the award winning "Labor in Power" series. Kathy began her reporting career at 3AW in Melbourne and was a radio reporter in the Canberra press gallery before joining the ABC. She also holds an Arts degree with majors in media and psychology. Married with 2 children, Kathy loves cooking, gardening, cycling and weekends off!

Matthew Stanley, Producer

Matthew Stanley has been a journalist and producer with the ABC for 15 years. He took over as Stateline's Producer in 2005, moving from the ABC's International service, Australia Network. Matthew has worked across a wide range of ABC programs, including producing the National Midday News and the Victorian 7:00pm bulletin. He has also worked with The 7:30 Report and in Radio Current affairs.

Josephine CafagnaJosephine Cafagna, Reporter

Josephine Cafagna has been a broadcast journalist in Sydney and Melbourne for more than 20 years, working most recently for ABC TV, SBS TV and Radio 3AW. For the past ten years Josephine has worked for the ABC with the 7.30 Report, in Radio and now with Stateline in Melbourne. She also works regularly for Foreign Correspondent . Her investigative work on Stateline has attracted numerous awards, including the prestigious Walkley award for Best Current Affairs reporting . She has been nominated twice in the same category and has won five Quill awards for excellence in journalism. Her specialty for many years has been Victorian politics.

Cheryl Hall, Reporter

Cheryl Hall has been a television journalist, working for the ABC for more than 20 years. She has worked for ABC televison and radio news and current affairs in Brisbane, North Queensland and Melbourne. She travelled widely around Australia when she was the national rural reporter for the network, filing for television news. For the past 15 years she has covered a wide range of stories in Melbourne, as well as performing producing and news editing roles.
