On 13th February 2009 COLLECTORS is back at its familiar timeslot. The show that showcases the best collections, museums, exhibitions and the nation’s most passionate collectors is ready to go for another fascinating year.

And for episode one we dive back to the fabulous 1960s, the decade of love and peace, flower-power and flared pants. Our first collector is bewitched by Twiggy, the model who was “Face of the Year” in 1966 in London. She was second only to the Beatles in popularity and fame, and re-invented the art of being a model. The collection is wonderful, and takes you right back there.

Prof Adrian takes us back another way, via the groovy, psychedelic and angular shapes of 1960s pottery and ceramics. No one knows more about 1960s pottery than Adrian, partly because he was there at the time!

There’s also a serious Beatles collector and a 1964 surfing board game in “Show and Tell”. A new auction game has Adrian and Gordon going head to head, and the “Mystery Object” sets the bar very high indeed… and that’s where it will stay.
